Business Donations

Introduction
There are a wide variety of examples of charitable giving by tourism businesses and of businesses encouraging their clients to make a charitable contribution to local communities. Many formal sector businesses in developing countries play some part in stimulating and collecting voluntary donations for guests and other businesses for local community projects.

Travellers’ philanthropy appears to be growing and private sector enterprises are beginning to establish their own charitable trusts to receive and distribute funds. It is important to ensure that the costs of running the charity can be met either by the sponsoring enterprise or by other enterprises. It is also important that the distribution of the funds is totally transparent.
